Additional Car and Driver Information

This magazine is for automobile enthusiasts interested in domestic and imported autos. Each issue contains road tests and features on performance, sports, international coverage of road race, stock and championship car events, technical reports, personalities and products. Road tests are conducted with electronic equipment by engineers and journalists and the results are an important part of the magazine's review section.

What Customers Say About Car and Driver:

I've always liked their technical insight and reviews with actual winners. I've been a subscriber to Car and Driver since I was about 10 years old.

They even go as far as saying, "even though the other car was better, we placed the BMW ahead of it, I know the other car scored better in every category and was 10k cheaper, but it cant win if its not a Bimmer hahaha." Obviously thats not an actual quote, but its not far off from some ive read. but on the bright side, at least the writers over at 3SM (3 series monthly) are up front about their bias. You would think for a Michigan based mag, they might be a less stuck on the teat of a German car. I've been reading C&D for a few years now, and while occasionally I'll find something that actually makes me want to finish the entire thing, most of the time its just slamming everything thats not a BMW. The manufacturer bias is so overwhelming that I dont really feel the need to continue reading this.

If your looking for a fun car magazine with knowledge of many different cars, then this is a good magaine for you. I enjoy reading this magazine and like how they give great details about many different cars. Hope this helps. If you are looking for lots of tuner articles then this isn't the magazine for you. Cars for everybodys price ranges are reviewed. While it's fun to see the super expensive cars.most of us will realistically never own one, and that is why I enjoy articles like "The best car under $20,000".

Unfortunatly, he was relocated, without notice, prior to their delivery. George F.

who largely keep writing the same stuff they've been whining about for a decade or three. Now, it's an ill fitting mix of new and old writers trying to be fresh and hip while being spoon fed by the car manufactures. One car will be rave reviewed, and 4 issues later, will place near the bottom of a multi-car comparison test. There have been several articles lately, such as on the new Nissan GT-R and Corvette ZR1, that literally mirror articles in other magazines even featuring some of the same quotes from the same car execs.

C&D was once entertaining, witty, objective and a great read. The end result comes off as heavily biased, anything but objective, and an awkard mix of writing styles. The impression is very much whichever manufacture spends the most on ads, dinners, drinks, and other gratuities, gets top billing regardless of the quality and performance of their vehicles. Some of the writing is entertaining, but that's offset by the same tired editors (Csere, Bedard, et al). The staff worked well together and they put out a consistently good magazine.

You might as well go to the manufacture's websites and read their press releases. There has been a lot of inconsistency in C&D's reviews. My suggestion: Save some trees and just skim the C&D website for their rare entertaining exclusive article and get the rest of your automotive news somewhere else. Then it went through some rough years where it got kind of tame and boring. The magazine lacks consistency, focus and any sort of clear vision as to what they're about.C&D mostly seems to print what the biggest manufactures want them to.
